Perform a variety of proofreading, administrative and document management responsibilities on tight deadlines for Venable LLP, a law firm of around 850 people working across regulatory, corporate and investigative law

Perform proofreading process on wide variety of legal documents, including checking for typos, grammar, consistency in formatting, defined terms, cross-references and punctuation, while also following Chicago style and an internal style guide

Work with a team to manage document queue while communicating regularly with legal professionals on project needs, including deadlines, instructions and formatting styles

Managed all processes of producing two print newspapers with a combined circulation of roughly 100,000 people as well as two daily digital newsletters—including writing, editing, photography and graphic development, all on strict deadlines

Managed a team of four reporters, including coming up with an editorial plan and delegating assignments as well as strategizing on how to innovate with the development and promotion of a variety of story types

Used SEO principals to increase newsletter subscribers by more than 100% following a focused effort in 2020 sparked by the coronavirus pandemic

Analyzed dozens of data sources and used public records to add depth to stories, including stories on illegal dumping activity in Houston, the redistricting of local and congressional seats, noise ordinance violations and development permits in historic flood plains

Recognized with a Diamond Journalism Award for non-daily newspapers by the Society of Professional Journalists for Hurricane Harvey coverage; the Best Health Story award by the National Newspaper Association for covering the consequences of a local physician shortage; and the Anson Jones, MD Award from the Texas Medical Association for coronavirus coverage, among other honors
